Description

The Nigerian Inter-Faith Action Association (NIFAA) brought together faith leaders in the Federal Capital of Abuja. Presiding were the two top Christian and Muslim leaders in Nigeria - His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto and His Grace, Archbishop of Abuja - for the launch of Faiths United for Health, a campaign of faith leaders assisting in the fight against malaria.

NIFAA convened one-hundred of the top faith leaders, both Christian and Muslim, to train them on faith-based malaria messaging. Utilizing a training-of-trainers model, these faith leaders will train 300,000 clerics, priests, imams and pastors to deliver malaria prevention messages to their congregants through sermons and other cooperative efforts in their communities. These messages will travel from city-centers down to the grassroots in towns and villages throughout Nigeria, thus increasing net utilization and decreasing mortality from malaria.
