As Senior Associate for Communications and Development, Amanda coordinates external communications and fundraising activities in addition to working closely with CIFA’s programs and strategy teams.
Amanda previously served as an AmeriCorps member, working with HeadsUp DC to improve student literacy in a DCPS elementary school. Amanda has also volunteered with the Centre for Domestic Training and Development, a local NGO working to protect and train Kenyan domestic workers in Nairobi, and with the Committee to Protect Journalists in Washington, DC.
She received her Bachelor’s of Arts from American University’s School of International Service, majoring in International Studies, with a focus on Development in Africa. Amanda has traveled extensively in sub-Saharan Africa, and lived in Kenya in 2008, where she studied abroad and volunteered at displacement camps. She teaches English as a second language and practices yoga in her free time, and is proficient in KiSwahili.
